As with the other Souls games, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring features its own currency and experience point system known as Runes. Players can discover these treasures throughout the Lands Between and use them to power up in various ways.
How to Get Runes
Runes are the in-game currency used by players to level up their characters and purchase goods from merchants across The Lands Between. Furthermore, Runes provide access to Great Runes – unique items with powerful buffs that when worn provide additional advantages over time.
Here are some ways to obtain Runes:
- Killing enemies: Defeating enemies, especially bosses, will reward you with Runes. Bosses typically drop more Runes than regular opponents.
- Exploring Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow dungeons: One of the easiest ways to acquire Runes is by defeating the first three tiers of Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow dungeons. This will net you plenty of Runes!
- Hunting Golden Scarabs in Abandoned Cave: Any level player can hunt Golden Scarabs in Abandoned Cave, and killing an enemy will yield many Runes.
- Fighting Cleanrot Knights at Limgrave Third Church of Marika Site of Grace: Players can also collect Runes by engaging in battles with Cleanrot Knights at this specific location.
How to Activate Runes
Many players are left confused as they attempt to understand how Runes function in Elden Ring. Although these powerful buffs provide vital assistance when facing off against difficult enemies, acquiring and activating them requires more than defeating a boss alone.
Once a player acquires a Great Rune, it must be activated at the Divine Tower associated with its originator – usually near the Lands Between region where it was earned, with some exceptions:
- To activate Godrick’s Great Rune in Limgrave, players must ascend its tower.
- Rykard’s Great Rune must be activated in West Altus by climbing Isolated Tower at sea level.
Once a Great Rune is activated, its effects will remain active until either players die or equip another one; at which time, it will no longer have any use and must be activated again at its Divine Tower for reuse.
How to Farm Runes
As you try to level up your characters in Elden Ring, there may come a time when you must collect Runes to improve their strength so they can finally defeat that boss battle that has been giving them so much trouble. This allows for your character’s ultimate triumph against said boss.
As part of its sandbox design, this game provides plenty of places where you can farm elden ring runes to quickly level up characters. We will go over all of these locations as well as some handy tips and tricks to maximize results.
Best Rune Farming Locations
One of the best rune farming locations in Fort Faroth can be found near Fort Faroth. This early/mid game farming location features an abundant collection of passive Albinaurics which can be killed for thousands of Runes. If equipped with both the Sacred Relic Sword (a weapon earned after defeating the final boss) and Golden Scarab Talisman, this spot becomes even more efficient.
How to Buy Runes
Runes are the currency in From Software’s buy runes elden ring. Players use them to level character attributes, purchase goods from merchants, claim boss remembrances and upgrade Ashes of War and Weapons. Unfortunately, unlike XP they’re lost upon death; defeating enemies rewards players with various amounts based on size and strength as well as occasional special items drops from them.
As in past entries of Soulsborne series games, Vigor should be your priority early on. Elden Ring combat can be fast-paced and requires high damage output in order to survive.
An instant power boost awaits players who purchase runes from reliable sellers, such as MMOEXP. By choosing competitive prices and prompt delivery times from such a store like MMOEXP – which has been providing secure in-game transactions to players around the globe since 2010 – buying runes becomes much simpler and timelier.
